Peter Jones attended the National College of Art and Design where he attained a degree in Fine Art. On leaving N.C.A.D. he began his extensive career in Printmaking. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally, in 2000 he showed in ‘ Works on Paper ‘ at the Green on Red Gallery and with the Allied Irish Bank Collection. He also showed in the UAE Biennale of Art, Sarjar United Arab Emirates and at Caversham Press Natal South Africa.
Jones list of solo shows includes ‘Prints’ -Interprint Storrs Gallery, UConn, U.S.A, Recent Prints at the Caversham Educational Institute and Gallery Natal South Africa, New Works at Bilbao Arte Bilbao Spain, ‘Collagraphs’ Jersey Art Centre Jersey and Recent Prints at The Green on Red in Dublin.
He has also had numerous awards to add to his credit, including the ‘Arts Council Award for Creative Practice, the Print Award at the Galway Arts Centre, the Dept of Foreign Affairs Tracel Award, South Africa, The Arts Council Bursary Award, The Art Commission Competition The Valuation Offices Of Public Works and the Arts Council Arts Flight.
Jones has also been heavily involved in the research side of printmaking, in 1998 he was awarded a grant for research and evaluation of Acrylic and related acid resistant materials and Intaglio presses, more recently he has been awarded a grant for the research into recycled print materials in an exchange project with Michaelas School of Art and Design in Cape Town, South Africa.
Jones work is part of many public and private collections both nationally and internationally. He presently lectures print at the College of Marketing and Design in Dublin.
